Anyway...WE ARE HERE!!!! It was a very long flight--too many plane changes and time differences. The flight to Frankfurt and Athens were so bumpy I wasn't able to sleep. Of course Matt was sleeping soundly and didn't have any problems. I watched movies that were so boring I am surprised they made it to the theaters. Didn't help me sleep, but gave me a headache instead.
At about 10:33 pm during flight from Toronto to Frankfurt, Matt wished me Happy Birthday. wow! Exactly the time I was born in Manila 44 years ago....woohoo!!! then he went back to sleep.
Our driver was waiting for us at the airport in Athens when we landed. He didn't speak much English but noticed that I was trying to videotape sights while he's driving. Then he all of a sudden pulled over the side of a very busy freeway. He wanted to show us a fantastic view of the Olympic Stadium where the 2004 Olympics was held. After much exchange of Greek and English and a lot of "uhuhs", I took a video to make him happy. I will post later when I get all my stuff out of the suitcase.
The weather was great although a little nippy last night. Our hotel , The Electra Palace, is a block from PLAKA, the Ancient Town and old capital of Greece. And we know that it has a magnificent view of the Acropolis so we went to the Roof Top Garden restaurant and took a picture. Here it is. What do you think?

And thank you all for the birthday greetings!
We went out last night at PLAKA for my birthday dinner. We were searching for a Taverna that our friends recommended. It was conveniently located a block away from our hotel. It is the TAVERNA PLATANOS. Here is not so nice picture. We had lamb and greek salad. Matt had lamb with rice and I had roast lamb. Delicious! We are going back there for lunch tomorrow.
