A Father's Day

Father's Day this year was a very sad day. Matthew usually sends his Dad what I call a "sappy" card. He loves sending those and I know his Dad loved receiving them. Well...in the absence of one this year and in years to come, I want to share a part of an email Matthew sent me on Valentine's Day this year.

Matthew writes very thoughtful and emotional emails. And as always, we talk about family, relationships, his Mom and of course, his Dad. Here is an excerpt from the one he sent last Feb 14.

... I was in a swim race once at Bethesda Country Club, Maryland.... Dad wasn't there... I'm pumping along to win the race & in my next breath (freestyle), I see Dad there right at the edge of the pool in his 3 piece suit, standing there shouting & cheering me on "Go Buddy, Go!"....... He had just gotten off a plane from wherever & raced there to be my biggest fan & supporter & rooter.... He was ALWAYS there...
