Welcome 2008!

After weeks of partying and celebrating in San Diego and daily long walks at Fiesta Island, we finally made it back to Lake Tahoe on January 3. The drive was fantastic! The roads were clear, weather sunny and the view was amazing. We left San Diego at 5:30 am and made it to Tahoe at around 2:30 p.m. I drove all the way while Matt tried to sleep. We stopped at Nikita's favorite "pitstop" places-- ARCO station at Victorville for gas (the cheapest on the 395 strip), McDonald's at Bishop for a quick lunch ( She actually liked McDonald's at Lone Pine but it was too early for lunch) and ARCO gas station at Minden.

The next day, January 4, it started snowing. All reports from the weather channel and various local stations claimed BLIZZARD CONDITIONS for the next three days. They all called it the STRONGEST STORM IN THE LAST 50 YEARS!

True to form, I panicked and went to the grocery store for supplies--- along with the rest of the stranded tourists it looked like!

The photo above was taken on January 4 at around 5 pm. Nikita wanted to play outside but it was too cold and with the fireplace on, the living room was just too warm and cozy to abandon.
