I spent all day trying to fix Matt's computer. I was planning on relaxing, do some homework or maybe bake some bread today but unfortunately, I had to take care of it or Matt won't be able to do any work.
It acted up yesterday, refusing to load Win$#%^! When I was finally able to reboot, the welcome screen showed up with all user accounts missing. How about that! My plan was to "open the drive" as an external so I can check the files without running WinXP but my external drive enclosure was left in San Diego so I was not able to do anything. Plan B--Open my computer and plug it into my MoBo but it didn't work. I searched the house for another external drive enclosure. Perhaps I left one somewhere. Nope...I found several laptop drive enclosures but not the one I need.
It was very frustrating! I finally decided to download a couple of NTFSboot disk files (http://www.ntfs.com) and booted from the CD. Voila! Success at last....I was able to look at the ntfs files, delete the old SAM file and replace it with the "fresh" version from May 07. It worked!
It was already 6:00pm by the time I was able to retrieve all the emails, documents and folders that were lurking in the drive. Matt finally decided to go to bed (after waiting all day for me to finish working on his computer). Well...at least he will be able to check his email when he wakes up in the middle of the night.
Tomorrow is BACK-UP THE COMPUTERS day. I can't afford to have another day like today. Okay...so it was snowing heavily anyway and we're not able to go out and ski. But it was just very frustrating especially since the computer justs conked out for no reason. Matt shut it down. Turned it on again and the BSD (blue screen of death) reared its ugly head. UGGG!

Ninang, the middle part of your entry made me feel dizzy. All those techy terms and processes, whew! Good work! :p -JAJA
