Night and Day, Day and Night

Yesterday, I received a DVD of photos from our friends Rodney and Carlos. These photos were taken last fall, October 2007, when they visited us for the first time here in Tahoe. Rodney took lots of pictures (lots and lots --thanks for sharing!) and I picked one in particular --the one which was a view of our backyard deck from the hillside. As you can see from the picture on the left, the deck looks very inviting and relaxing.

Today, I put on my snowshoes and climbed the hillside in the backyard to take a picture of the deck now. The picture on the right shows you how it looks like now after all the snow dumping we received. It is 42 degrees outside today and the temps were in the mid 30s the last two days. This means the pile of snow you see has melted quite a bit ( I really couldn't see through my kitchen window!).

Notice that we had our roof partially cleared, too. We also had to hire a couple of people to climb our roof and remove the 2 feet of snow and ice that had accumulated. Just want to make sure our roof wasn't going to collapse on us while we enjoy the Lawrence Welk show on Saturday afternoons on PBS!

To view a larger version of the photos, just click on either one of them.
