Day 3 of the cruise will take us to the island of Patmos after our full day at Rhodos. We will be leaving the cruise at Patmos then will take the ferry to island of Leros where our friends Lars and Christine are waiting for us. The cruise will continue on to Kusadasi, Turkey (which we will unfortunately miss) before returning back to Athens.
The ship is scheduled to arrive in Patmos at 6:00am and our ferry to Leros leaves at 8:00am. That should give us enough time but our travel agent has warned us that this might not be reliable. Either boats could be delayed and the next ferry out of Patmos to Leros is not until two days later. Our friend Lars found out that there are several boats we can take from Patmos and if necessary, he'll send a fishing boat for us from Leros. Well....not sure the fishing boat route is something I look forward to. It was difficult enough for me to be comfortable in a big ship (I had several packages of dramamine with me just in case) and the idea of being on a smaller boat in windy conditions is a little to scary.
Lucky for us, our boat arrived on time and we were the first ones on the tender boat that will take passengers to the marina. Here are some photos Matt took of PATMOS:

Now the next problem is how far do we have to walk to get to the ferry landing. The men on the tender boat were very helpful. In halting English, he said to "walk a few steps, then sit on cafe and have coffee". Yes, it seems like their answer to everything is a cup of coffee. I wonder if Matt's version of the instruction is "have a glass of ouzo".
So we go to the marina, found the coffee shop, sat and waited. There were several people waiting for the ferry. I was on the lookout for a boat the same size as our cruise ship or smaller. It was after all a ferry. When the BLUE STAR arrived, I was pleasantly surprised. IT WAS HUGE. Check it out.
